Cinema Connection Kit issue
When Avast Antivirus scans my home network for security issues, the only problem it finds is the Directv Cinema Connection Kit. All six of my Directv receivers are secure, but the connection kit is not. It says the password needs to be changed because the password was compromised in a data leak and is available online (most likely because it is the device default password). Avast says it is a critical error and the password needs to be changed immediately. How do I change the password on the connection kit?

The Cinema Connection Kit is hardwired and has no password. The Wireless Cinema Connection Kit uses the same password as the WiFi network you connected it to.

@Samasu
The Cinema Connection Kit (CCK) does not have its own password. The only password is your WiFi so it can connect to it like any other wireless devices. So your Avast seems to be giving a false reading on it.
As you have 6 boxes, what are their models? (especially anything "Genie")
Do you have multiple CCKs?

Thank you for your answers. I will ignore the Avast warning.
No, we don't have multiple CCKs. The boxes are the old HD/DVR receivers - not Genie.

So all boxes are before HR44 (2nd generation Genie)? Just making sure as that is the first model with the CCK built-in which could cause conflicts with the external.
As a note if ever needed, the Genies do work with regular HDDVRs (HR20 thru HR24), HD non-DVRs (H21 thru H25), and special R22 (listed as SDDVR, but with an H or HR model has MPEG-4/HD capability turned on).
Do avoid the Genie-2 (HS17) as that one forbids traditional receivers/HDDVRs.

Hello @Samasu, we realize the importance of your security. The Cinema Connection Kit depends on your home network connection. Thus, there is no option to change the password. If the antivirus detects a threat on this equipment, it is possible that your antivirus detected a threat on the home network connection. The best way to make sure your information is safe, you can change your password. Thank you for contacting us, don't hesitate to reach out to us. Have a nice day. 💙 Laura, DIRECTV Community Specialist
