Connecting a Genie Mini cable box to a DVD player

I have a C61W-400 wireless genie mini connected to a DVD player using a DIN 10 Pin to RCA audio video composite cable.  The 10pin is connected to the cable box, and the RCA terminals are connected to the DVD player, but I still  can not record to a CD from  the TV.  What is the problem, and how can I fix it?  Yes, the cable box is connected to the TV using an HDMI cable, and the DVD is connected to to the TV using  an RCA cable.

DVD Player or DVD Recorder?

If it's a DVD Recorder I trust you're using blank DVD-R or DVD+R discs, not a CD. Can't record video to a CD-R.

Umm, shouldn't the DVD recorder (with a recordable DVD, not CD) be connected to the TV and not the Mini Genie Client?

The TV might not pass video out to a DVD Recorder.

The DVD player is connected to the TV via an RCA cable.  The cable box is connected to the TV via an HDMI cable and yes, I am using a recordable DVD -RW discs

Hello @prof36 , thanks for reaching us.

We want to help you record your favorite content to DVD. First of all, use the composite AV cable to hook your receiver to the DVD recorder and follow these steps:

Run the AV cables from the output on receiver to the input on the back of the DVD recorder.

Most DVD recorders have AV inputs in the front or back. They are usually labeled Line 1 or Line 2, keep in mind that connections may vary based on your equipment.

Next, Tune the TV to the input the DVD recorder is hooked up to. For example, if the DVD recorder is hooked up to Video 2 on the TV, tune the TV to Video 2.

Tune the DVD recorder to the input the receiver is hooked up to. For example, If the receiver is hooked up to Line 1 on the VCR, tune the VCR to Line 1.

Finally, if recording from an HD receiver, change the output resolution to 480i before recording. To do this, press the RES (resolution) button on the front panel of the receiver.

Let's try and let us know how it goes, we'll be here for you.

Why record from a DVD recorder in the first place when with the click of a button you can do it in HD on a Genie. SMH

As a note, the 10-pin A/V just needs the dongle to A/V.

Hello again @prof36, we want to make sure that every one of your concerns are resolved.

In this case, the dongle is a device that will help us to connect the AV cables. In other words, it is an adapter to connect both devices.

If there's any other doubt you may have, we'll be here to help you.

Here are my connections:

genie (out) to TV (in)  via HDMI

genie (out) to DVD player/recorder (in) via 10pin composite AV to RCA

DVD (out) to TV (in) via RCAARe these the correct connections?

I do set the correct inputs for the DVD, L1, and use the video 1 input.
