Direct TV remote mostly not functioning

DIRECT TV REMOTE CONTROL PROBLEMS

When I turn on my Samsung TV with my Direct TV remote, I get a blue screen which displays:

                                              CHECK DEVICE POWER

                Three instructions, then:

                 POWER ON         CONNECTION GUIDE      SOURCE

Most of the remote control’s buttons don't work.  I can’t select any of the 3 buttons on the blue screen.  I can't get past this blue screen. With the remote I can turn the TV on and off, adjust volume, mute.  No other buttons work.  The DVR is recording programs as I programmed it (the RECORD light comes on), but I can’t look at any as the MENU button does not work. Likewise, the GUIDE button does not work.

I tried fresh batteries.  No luck.  The remote worked fine until about a week ago.

Your tv is on the wrong input  that's why you can't select anything with the direct tv remote you would need to use tge tv remote to make a selection, what model is the remote? Look for the input button or Use the TV remote to change the input/source  to directv

What looks like a model number is RC66RX in the upper left corner.

PWR slider is set to Direct TV logo.  TV INPUT switches between SAMSUNG TV PLUS and HDMI though there is no HDMI feed to the TV now.

Not making progress.

I have a Samsung TV. Mine also "wakes up" on the wrong HDMI port, even though there is nothing connected to that port.

I have a universal remote for turning on my system. It turns on the TV, the receiver, the Gemini. Then it commands the TV to HDMI 4, and the receiver to input from the DTV box.

So, it's really your TV. You might try seeing which HDMI input your TV "likes" to wake up in, and move the DTV input there.

Also you might have luck enabling/disabling the TV's CEC / "Anynet" on the TV, it's possible some "glitch" is forcing the TV to switch inputs.
