They already do. It's the Gemini wireless/wired Genie client model C71KW. It is still theoretically in beta (as far as I know) and only certain customers have been given the ability to test it. However, once it becomes available to the whole public, the receiver is based off of Google TV and has voice capability.
Currently, you can get a backlit remote by purchasing an RC73B or an RC66RBX remote. This will depend on the type of receiver that you have. The newer Genie receivers/Genie clients use the RC73B while standalone boxes like the HR24 and H25 use the RC66RBX remote.
When you go to try to get a Gemini box, ensure you currently have a main HS17 receiver (Genie HD DVR) as the Gemini is NOT compatible with the previous Genie receivers model HR34/HR44/HR54/H44.

Thanks for the information. Well I currently have the HR54 HD DVR Receiver with C51-100 and C51-500 connected in bedrooms. So I guess I'm out of luck.
I spoke with DTV customer service agent whom told me there was no remote solution as of yet. I assuming now he meant for my equipment.

I guess so, but perhaps not. The Gemini itself is a very new receiver so I assume many CSRs are unaware of the box and it’s existence. Either way, yes, unfortunately since you have the HR54 you’d need that upgrade to the HS17 in order to get the Gemini box.

For the remotes you can purchase three RC73B remotes in order to have backlit functionality on the HR54 and two C51s.
