Gemini Dolby Atmos Capabilities
Is the Gemini device able to stream content in Dolby Atmos?
I'm currently using Roku Ultimate and my LG television to stream movies and shows with Atmos tracks. My Genie Mini can handle Atmos despite the almost nonexistent content currently available from DirecTV. I'm considering upgrading to the Gemini to consolidate my recording and streaming activity to one device. Absence of Dolby Atmos capabilities would be a deal breaker.

Gemini is a client/mini so has no turners or hard drive so uses the HS17 for both. I would assume it can since your mini can.

Thanks. However, I believe the device's circuitry would still need to be capable of passing the full Atmos signal to my receiver for it to be properly processed.
I spoke with a DirecTV representative yesterday concerning a number of my concerns about upgrading my Genie Mini to the Gemini. She said that the device is capable of providing "full" Dolby audio, which in her mind meant Atmos, too. I asked her if she could verify that assumption. After a sizeable wait, she said that it supports Dolby Vision, but that wasn't the question. She then spoke to her supervisor who also made the same assumption. The call lasted more than an hour and, since I wasn't convinced, I decided not to upgrade at that time. That's why I wanted to see if anyone else on the Community had the answer.

AFAIK all DTV receivers/clients are built to the same specs.
