If you mean RF mode, then yes. The DIRECTV GEMINI remote is able to be used in RF mode.

thanks! you have the gemini receivers now? i am "eligible" for the upgrade, but dont see much user feedback on them? any issues that would make me NOT upgrade?

No, I don’t have the Gemini receiver unfortunately.
To get one you need the HS17 tower because they are not compatible with the other HR44/HR54 receivers.
Overall, the Gemini does have a new remote and UI. It does come with the apps to stream though like Netflix, HBO Max, and Amazon Prime.
I don’t see any issues with the Gemini yet. Although, an upgrade will put you into another two year contract ( just something to be aware of).

I recently installed the Gemini on top of my old Genie. Right out of the box, it was apparently set up for RF (not IR) remotes. The Gemini unit is installed in a cabinet in my home theater, and the solid door is closed, but the remote is working fine.

The Gemini remote uses Bluetooth and IR.
