Gemini with HR54 satellite
Am I able to use the new Gemini with my existing HR54 satellite receiver?
What are the details regarding how to get it, cost, and connections?
I use an AV receiver between my HR54 and smart tv.

Yes, the Gemini is indeed compatible with the HR54.
I’m not sure if people with HR44s or 54s can get the Gemini yet, as it was just recently tested with HS17 customers only.
Call DIRECTV ( number in my greeting below) and ask about the Gemini. Would this be an additional receiver, or a replacement/upgrade receiver?
The Gemini’s connections are seen in an article by Solid Signal below.

Gotcha, yes that would be an additional receiver. First, call DIRECTV and inquire about the cost. You will definitely be put in another two year contract for the extra receiver.

You are not buying it from Solid Signal that is the upfront lease fee and that is what DTV charges if you don't have a free upgrade to use and it must be returned to DTV. With only one TV then you will be paying an additional TV fee of $7.00 for both the HR54 and the C71KW. To use the C71KW wireless you have to buy a WVB that is connected to the SWM splitter with coax.

I guess you would call it additional as I only have the HR54.
I was not sent an offer by DTV, but I see that Solid Signal is selling them.
I was wondering if I am asking for trouble by ordering from Solid Signal instead.

If you only have a single TV, then the HR54 is more than enough (literally as you cannot use Whole Home DVR). Only get another box if you're getting another TV.
