Houston Local channel KHOU Pixelation and audio drop
KHOU pixelation and audio drop is back again. Don't see it on other local channels. TPN map says Houston channels 2, 11, 13, 26 and 49 are on the same beam so if its' a downlink, DTV receiver or other in home issue it would seem like it should affect all of the channels on the link. Don't watch the other channels as much as KHOU but haven't noticed the issue on the other channels.
Anyone in the Houston area on this forum seeing issues with KHOU?

It's been a couple of weeks and still getting the audio dropout and pixelation on local channels. Over last couple weeks have noticed on Houston local channels 2,11 and 39. Watching recording from channel 11 tonight and getting pixelation and audio drops on McGyver. Both happen at same time which suggests a loss of data in the data stream.

so what is the signal strength on the relevant transponder?

Not a good day to check levels with the rain but normally the local channel transponders are 95+. Actually all of my levels are in the mid to high 90s. I don't see pixelation issues on national channels so I'd assume the dish alignment and satellite view is pretty good.
Since the pixelation issue seems to be only local channels I have to think there is an issue feeding the local channel concentrator in Houston. The concentrator was located at KHOU a few years ago but their studio was destroyed by flooding and they had to relocate to a new facility. Don't know where the concentrator is today. The other possibility is uplink to Colorado. Although I'd think all the locals would be more effected. I haven't watched the channels much over the air lately so I don't know if the signal from the station is pixelated or not.

yes i suspect your thoughts on this are correct. it would be good to see if the same issues occur OTA as well.

Did a little OTA compare over the weekend and didn't see any pixelation even with the weather. A few recordings from late last week to now didn't show any either so maybe its gone again for now.

It's back again on channel 11. The Neighborhood and Bob H Abishola both have lot of pixelation. Was not able to compare to OTA since these were recorded and watched the next day.
ATT - You said you were aware of the concern and the team was looking into it - What have you found?

Did a little OTA vs DTV comparison on channel 39 local news. No pixelation OTA. Via DirecTV is very bad. Other times 39 is just fine. No weather issues at the time. LOS is fine. Many other channels are fine. This appears to be mostly a local channel issue.
Watching recording of Bull from 5/10. Frequent pixelation.

Yes. No sound during the 4th quarter of Texans game 12-19. Over the air antenna and Paramont plus both missing sound. The other 11- digital stations do have sound so I'm thinking it is a problem with the local station or network feed.

It’s most likely the transponder and the sat the channel has very low signal like 90 or below % signal

If that was true how come the OTA channel was also missing the sound? The sats have redundant transponders so DTV can switch them at anytime.
