How do I deactivate a receiver on my account that I no longer use?
We have a genie in our spare bedroom that has gone unused for almost a year, and I have tried to cancel it before but have had no luck. Tired of paying for a service every month that is not used.

I suspect you mean a Mini Genie which is a Client of the Genie receiver.
You call DirecTV and request to deactivate the Mini Genie. In addition to it comming off the account, you will need to go into "Manage Clients" in the main Genie to unpair it.
Once deactivation is confirmed, you take the Mini Genie to a participating FedEx or The UPS Store, with your account number for your free return. Keep receipt showing they took possesion.
Going forward that will reduce your bill by $7.

You may have a mini client in the other room as a Genie is the main unit that runs the system. You have to call DTV to deactivate it and you may need its RID number(receiver id number)
