how to hook up satellite box to satellite dish on motorhome
We have a motorhome with a direct tv satellite dish that rises up when turned on (the box says wine guard). We just got direct tv at home and were told to bring the main box, which we have done. The wine guard box shows that it found the satellite *101 *99 *103. We have hooked up a satellite cable from the box to the connection in our MH that says fold down dish to sat rcvr. We then hooked a HDMI cord from satellite box to wall. We then went to our TV and went to that particular HDMI for input. It says no signal but then after a bit it shows Direct TV with a pink background. Cannot get the tv to tell us how to finish up set up. Any ideas?

DTV doesn't service RVs unless they are permanently parked. You need to contact Winegard or an RV dealer that installs DTV.

What model DirecTV box are you using?
You might need a SWM Power Inserter for that dish to provide anything to the DirecTV box.

That must be a Winegard Trav'ler or a slimline SWM dish on a tripod/sled mount. Otherwise, any other model is older MPEG-2 equipment that is now obsolete.

Juniper, it is a Trav’ler SWM slimeline.
litzdog911, it is a HR54-500.
Thank you for your help!

Well, that HD DVR should work fine with that dish. The HR54 already has a built-in SWM power supply to power the dish's LNB.
What exactly is happening when you power up the HR54? What exact on-screen messages are you seeing? If the HR54 was already setup on your home dish then it shouldn't require any additional setup on the RV dish.

No signal message is from the TV and then it starts showing but with a pink background seems to be an HDMI cable or TV problem and not sure about plugging an HDMI cable in to a wall as it usually goes to the TV.
