HR24-100 and New Internet Provider

I apologize if this has been asked before. But there is too much conflicting information when using search.

I'm working at my elderly moms house. She has DirecTV with an HR24-100 receiver with a DECA adaptor. The DECA was connected to a switch for Internet.

We have switched Internet providers and the modem/router is in a different room and provides Internet to most of the house wirelessly. But this means we've lost the port where the DECA used to plug into. All the equipment has been moved to a different room. So the coax isn't available at the new modem/router location.

The new router (Eero 6) has a single ethernet port available.

My question is; Can I simply connect the ethernet from the Eero router to the back of the HR24-100 for Internet access? Or do I actually need the DECA adapter?

Is the HR24-100 your only receiver? If so, sure you could do this. If it is not your only receiver, it is recommended to get a Cinema Connection Kit (CCK) and plug the Ethernet into that as if you simply plug an Ethernet right into the HR24-100 then this will turn off the HR24’s internal DECA.

There is one other TV. I confused the DECA and CCK. They are very similar and there is one installed. Found this for the difference (https://forums.directv.com/conversations/directv-equipment/what-is-decacck-and-wcck-what-do-they-mean/610c10d9df08a4122a469c3a)

What is the receiver model of the other TV? Are you using Whole Home DVR service? If so, you definitely need a CCK for the HR24.

The other receiver is a H25-100. Sorry I missed that. The TV is kinda buried in a bedroom.

I guess the answer is I'll have to run a coax & ethernet and get the CCK connected.

Unless the user of that TV relies on Autotune, and assuming you have Whole Home DVR (likely with the H25 being the newest non-DVR receiver), I would consider using your next free upgrade to replace the H25 with a Genie (not the Genie-2 HS17). That way you get full DVR capability on both (5 tuners and 1TB space on the Genie itself), has the wireless CCK built-in (which can use 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz) but can still go wired. No difference in monthly cost but you get more bang for your buck. Just don't replace the HR24 as works with the Genie.

But if Autotune is a factor, keep the setup the way it is. There is no box that has both DVR and Autotune, but the H25 can watch the recordings of the HR24 because of Whole Home DVR.

The CCK and the CCKW both puts the internet signal on the coax and the HR24 as the needed DECA circuits built in so doesn't need a connected home adapter.

Thank you to everyone that posted here. The solution was to keep all the existing equipment in place and run a new ethernet cable from the new Eero router to the DECA adaptor. I was hoping to avoid running new cables, but it was the best way to keep everything reliable.

Again, thank you everyone!
