Move DirecTV genie box from one room to another

I want to move one of my boxes from one room of my house to a different room in the house.  When I do this I get an error message and when talking to DirecTV they said I have to have a technician come out for $90 dollars to do this for me.  I was told moving a box to a different room won't work.  Can I really not move my box to a different room of my own house when I pay over $200 a month for my DirecTV service?

What’s the model of your Genie receiver? What receiver model in that room is being moved to where the Genie is? You are getting error 775?

Most likely, your Genie is no longer providing power to the LNB so error 775 is there to indicate this. You must change the coax on the splitter (if you have one) to have the Power Pass Output going to the room where the Genie must be.

Are you under a contract with them if you are not then I high like recommend trying out their streaming as it is much cheaper and you get more  you can watch up to 20 different devices all at the same time and you can watch 3 outside your home and no one has to come out all you need is the internet and a streaming device if you go through DirecTV they have a streaming box that's like cable and sat

They only need a tech if you are relocating to a spot that doesn't already have a working connection. If you are just switching boxes around with your existing connections, then you just need to make sure everything is plugged in correctly.

What are the models of every box you have and which ones are you trying to move?

AFAIK a receiver relocate is only $49.

@shannon02  is correct a receiver relocation is only $49.00 + tax if applicable however you don't really need a tech to come out unless the new location isn't already pre wired and you're not able to do it yourself. More than likely you're getting a 775 swm error because you didn't change the cable going to the new room at the switch , the power inserter weather internal (hr54 and Hs17) or external has to be connected to the power passing port of the switch

It is not $90 for a tech to do this. It is $49 for a relocate. The $99 is a service call for repair.

You should not need either as not running new coax to a different room or needing repair. Sounds like just need to make sure everything is plugged in where it should be. With more info the community can give guidance on this.
