Multiply issues with Gemini box

I am having some issues with my Gemini box when watching recordings. When you put it on pause for over a few minutes and then hit pause to go back to what you were watching it would just go to a black screen. The only way to get it back is to turn off the gemini and then turn it back on. The other issue is again putting on pause after a few minutes it would just unpause itself and go back to the recording but start at the beginning not where it was paused. I have unplugged the cable and power from the unit many times, it will work for about a day then start doing it all over again. After about an hour on chat with direct tv AI they suggested I do a factory reset. Any ideas

Yep, new "black screen" often with latest software update.

Be sure to reboot both the server and the client, but I'm getting the same thing.

Sometimes hitting the home button on the remote helps.

It's clear this happens when the system wants to go to screensaver, which are actually DTV ads streamed in.

I block many of them through the parental controls on my home router... This means I get the pretty Google screensaver of beautiful pictures rather than DTV ads.
