Not Getting Many Channels (Periodically)
Sometimes I don’t receive many of my channels, including my local ones (I am in VA). Get the 771 error code. This happens to both TVs/receivers at the same time. I have an old system where each TV/receiver has its own wire from the dish….so it must be back at the dish. Sometimes this corrects itself “out of the blue.” Could an LNB (or whatever they are called) be dying? Very frustrating. Bill

771 is a dish alignment problem but you may have a bigger problem as DTV is shutting down the SD only MPEG2 channels so if that is what you have you have to call DTV 1-800-531-5000 to get their free MPEG2 swap offer to replace the dish and add MPEG4 HD receivers.

@Wtdbilll
Well the 771 would normally be the dish alignment. But with your description of the "old" system, there might be some other concerns that go along with it.
What are the model numbers of each box you have? If it is an outdated setup then you should qualify for a complimentary equipment swap (not upgrade) which tech should verify all works including alignment before they leave. That way you don't pay for a service call if you don't have to.
