Old D11 satellite receiver

I had an old standard definition D11 receiver. I had it deactivated. Do I have to send the receiver back to Directv? They haven't contacted me yet.

D11 are obsolete as DTV is shutting down the MPEG2 channels.  You should have done an MPEG2 swap that would have replace it with a MPEG4 receiver and dish if needed.

Simple answer - recycle box. Remove access card first and if you haven't received an envelope in a month or so dispose of similar to a credit card.

D11 is a MPEG-2/SD-only box. DirecTV grandfathered SD-only service in late 2015. They are now in the process of shutting down their MPEG-2 feeds. That D11 was non-returnable many years ago. Even HD boxes before the Genie line are non-returnable.

DirecTV would have turned off your D11 eventually if you hadn't replaced it.

All D and R models (or even older) must be replaced. Except for R22 in certain setups as has MPEG-4 capability.

To be honest if the access card starts with 0016.. or below then it is essentially useless. DIRECTV doesn’t use those cards anymore with receivers like the H24 or HR24. However, DIRECTV may still want it back for several other reasons. Therefore, it’s best to keep it handy.
