The D-TV remote previously controlled my Vizio soundbar without a problem. The Vizio soundbar was connected via optical rather than HDMI Arc. The old soundbar did not have a HDMI Arc port. Could that be affecting the ability to control volume through D-TV remote? I already have the HDMI turned on so the D-TV remote powers on both TV and soundbar, but it won't control volume.
The TV remote does control the volume. I want to control the volume from the D-TV remote, which is the remote I use to change channels. The TCL/Roku remote can not be programmed to control the D-TV satellite box. The goal is to consolidate all functions to a single remote, without purchasing an all-in-one remote.
AS posted before --the D* remote will NOT have the code for your current sound bar --using your TV remote for VOL will have to do for now-- you will need a custom remote for that --

The cheap DirecTV remote's don't have codes for devices like soundbars. You'll need a fancier remote, like Logitech Harmony.

I suggest you look at your TV setting and turn on HDMI control and let the TV power it on -when using the D*TV remote
