Receiver unresponsive- got message there was a problem in storage device while resetting .

Receiver will not change channels or turn off either by remote or power button on the reciever itself.  Reset gets it working for a time and then becomes unresponsive again.  Must be related to the “problem in the storage device”

I’m a long time Directv user and have another reciever in another room that is working fine

What is the receiver model of the one that died? If it is a Genie DVR, then complications may occur. However, if it is a regular standalone HD DVR (i.e. HR24) then you can easily request a new receiver. This new receiver may not be an HD DVR, so just be aware that your replacement may not be what you desire.
