remote not usable

I want to replace my DIRECTV® Genie Remote Control with a Universal Remote Control.  How can I replace the unusable Genie remote?  User has vision issues with the remote.

What "universal remote" control brand/model?

Does that remote support DirecTV commands?

The RC66X remote is also a "Genie Remote". It should work fine. 

What Genie DVR model do you have?  The RC7x is the actual model number for the newer Genie DVRs.

Genie Gen 2, Model HR44-500.  The standard RC73 is not all that usable by the vision impaired.

My RC73 Enter(input) button has finally given up the ghost. This remote is used on my primary TV in my master bedroom. I have to use this button to select satellite TV (DirecTV). I am a disabled veteran and your service is my only entertainment. Please send me a replacement as soon as possible.

Let's try to order a new remote by accessing your online account following these steps:

1- Go to the DIRECTV
2- Add your credentials and sing it to your account.
3- Go to my account.
4- Under my account tab, select My Equipment.
5- Click order New Accessories.
6- Choose the remote you need for your receiver.
7- Tap continue.
8- Submit the order.

I have followed the instructions to order a new remote for my Direct TV system.  I do have a system protection plan.  I follow all the steps and the system tells me something like "This system not available now. Please try again later."  I've tried multiple times over two days.  What do I do????  I thought this would be easy.  Makes me wonder whether the support plan is worth it.
