Restore Auto tune on the Genie
Before I got the Genie system, I would set Autotune to tune to, let’s say, the news at 5pm. The Genie system allows me to record the news, but I just want to switch to the news at 5. I don’t want to keep watching the clock and have to remember what channel to switch to at 5. You need to add that into the record options. I used it all the time.

DirecTV DVRs have never had the Autotune feature and likely never will. Why not just record it and view it at your convenience?

There is nothing to restore as the Genie never had Autotune in the first place.
Only non-DVRs have Autotune. DVRs, and naturally any associated Clients of the Genie DVR, have recording capability instead of Autotune.
You may want the feature, but over the many years DirecTV has clearly shown they will not put the Autotune feature into DVRs.

Yes, I realize the Genie product never had autotune. Your previous products did and a number of people are asking for it back (in other comments I’ve seen). Why can’t you put it in the new ones? We are asking for it.

You said "restore" which doesn't mean add to, but add back to something that had it. So suggested you thought it had it at one point.
Not my previous products any more than yours. This is a public forum and I am a customer, as I make clear in all my posts for those who mistakenly think this is customer support.
As for why DirecTV has never done it, that is unknown. They don't share such decisions with us.

Auto tune was needed in the beginning of DTV to allow VCRs to record different programs so is no longer needed. There is nothing stopping you from watching the program while it records.
