The main tv isn’t working and the other with a mini genie says it’s waiting for

A receiver signal…the message says the connection will be made once the internet connection is made, but we have the internet connected.

My portable generator does run my DTV receivers so don't know what he was talking about, although I do have them on a UPS so they don't turn off.  Iffy about the surge protector also but if it is working now then great.

Need more info:

What equipment do you have?  DirecTV Satellite or DirecTV Stream? What box/streaming device model?

A Mini Genie doesn't require internet. It is service by satellite.

Are you trying to access an On Demand channel? Have you checked that you might be on the wrong TV input, so the 'smart' TV is trying to connect to internet?

What are the models of the Mini Genie having issues and the main Genie that directs it?

We have Satellite, not streaming. We were gone for 4 days. The housesitter said the power went out this morning. We have a generator, so everything sold have come back on, I thought. I’ll have to check the model in the morning. There are 4 TVs and they all give a message that the receiver needs to be restored.

If power went out, even if generator came back on, the TV's may have defaulted to the antenna input instead of what DirecTV is plugged into. Something to check first.

What is the exact error message?

Models of each box?

The model is HR44-200.

DTV doesn't use modems.  What are the mini model numbers.

That's not a message I would expect to see on an HR44 HD DVR. Is there an error code number associated with that on-screen message? Are you sure that the TV's INPUT is set for the DirecTV HR44 signal?  

I wonder if your HR44 is defective.

The model is HR44-200.

That is the 2nd generation Genie. Are you getting the error on that box's TV or just the others?

Edit that out. The Receiver ID is private to you and your account, unlike the model number.

That is not DirecTV. Your TV is by satellite, not internet.

Message says,

Waiting for Receiver Signal

if your receiver is restarting, connection will be restored once it’s back online.

That is an odd message. Almost sounds like you would get on a Client, not the HR44 itself. However, it is very likely a message from your TV set (not DirecTV). Some of these 'smart' TVs are getting more fancy with their errors.

Use the INPUT or SOURCE button on your TV remote and make sure you are on the one the DirecTV box is plugged into.

I finally called Direct tv. Two plugs needed to be plugged into different outlets. Something about the power going off zapping the surge protector. He said our generator won’t turn the receiver back on.
