This is a customer to customer forum so don't know for sure if they will or not.

Hello @rick31609, we'll be happy to help clear things out for you.

To make sure you'll get the best of our service, we strongly recommend to get certified DIRECTV equipment. We will be glad to work with you, so we can explore some options for you to get the new replacement. Let's meet in a Direct Message to take a closer look on this. Please check your DIRECTV Message inbox (it's the chat icon next to the bell icon on the upper right corner of the Forums)

THR22s are certified DTV equipment, they are modified HR22s that uses TiVo's operating system as when DTV started they didn't have HRDVRs only H receivers and they used TiVo DVRs for recording until TiVo was bought out and DTV parted ways and had to develop the HRDVR. Then TiVo was sold again and DTV tried again and then the THR22 was born.

@rick31609 DIRECTV should be able to activate it as long as you call it a "new" receiver that they sent you. Also, if you don't already have the access card, you will need to purchase one from them for a fee of $20.

If you tell them that you got the THR22 from a third party website, they will refuse to activate it. However, if you specifically state that it is a "new" receiver that they sent you to "replace" one of your current THR22 receivers, they should have no issues in deactivating the old one and setting up an activation for the new one.

For now hopefully they can still activate a THR22. Be aware that is several models old and was the last TiVO for DirecTV.

I keep waiting to hear what the new co-owner's plan is for boxes going forward.
