Trying to send my equipment back

For months we have called and called trying to get the return kit since my local ups says they will not accept at&t equipment without it. But still no return kit has showed up at my house, instead they charged me and sent it to my credit. I am beyond upset about this. I have don’t nothing but go out of our way to try and send this equipment back for them to just throw it on our credit. This is an outrage

How To Return The Equipment

Go to a FedEx or UPS location with your account #. No need to bring a box or label, the equipment will be boxed it up & shipped out at no charge. The process takes less than 5 minutes.

Find FedEx Office locations at www.fedex.com/attreturns.

Find The UPS Store locations at www.theupsstore.com/locations.

You need to use a proper UPS store, not a local store that just happens to handle UPS.

You need to use a The UPS Store, (used to be Mailboxes, Etc.) not an official UPS shipping office, nor a drop-off location.  Same goes for FedEx Office, (used to be Kinko's).

TexasBrit's links above are good.  I just wanted to be sure to make the distinction, because I have official UPS and FedEx shipping depots near my house, and they are real UPS/FedEx offices (trucks parked in the back and everything), but they will not accept the AT&T/DIRECTV equipment.

So then considering that my closet “actual ups” store is over 30 miles away then they should be responsible for sending the kit if it’s over 20 miles or am I missing something

Again, not an "actual ups" store.  A The UPS Store.  Is that what is 30 miles away, because there are usually more of them in a town than "actual ups" locations.

How about FedEx Office?

There’s a “FedEx on site” that’s inside of a Walgreens. Would this work? Not anything closer than 50 miles if not unless it just doesn’t come up on google maps or anything

No, "FedEx on site" would be a drop off location.  Some customers are "in the middle of nowhere."  You might want to open up a BBB or FCC (not both) complaint.  That should get you a call from the real AT&T Escalation Department (AKA Office of the President).

Normally they can straighten things out if the problem is the ball has been dropped (e.g. you are too far from a valid drop off location and no one will send you a return kit).  They won't necessarily make you happy when AT&T has been following the rules and you just don't like the rules or feel the rules shouldn't apply.

Probably not as it sounds like it is just a drop off location.  They have to have a scanner and software to scan the receivers into the system.  DTV should send you a return box to be returned to the post office.

I also thought they should send me a return box and the problem would be solved but I call and they say they sent it and two weeks still nothing. Call again and they say they sent it again. Still nothing. Call after call same results still no return box then they just slap it on my credit

I still have all the equipment just sitting in a closet ready to be sent back but now I’m sure there’s no way to get it off my credit without paying for it. (I don’t think they’ll even accept the equipment at this point and would rather me just pay them cash)

You are only sent a prepaid return kit (the old process) if you are over 10 miles away from a participating shipping location.

What are the models of boxes you are trying to return? Were you billed a non-return fee (NRF), and if so how long ago?
