First, when did this start happening? What is the receiver model? And have you tried a red reset? This can be found on the front behind the door where it says ‘PRESS’ or on the right side for the HR54 series receivers.
If the problem is still existent, this is almost always a hard drive issue and the receiver should be replaced. Tell DIRECTV it’s dead.
