There are more than 10 directv receivers ever made, but the single output LNB (I assume you mean SWM?) is supported by every Genie receiver ever made (HR34, HR44, H44, HR54, HS17), Genie clients as they are extensions of the Genie (C31, C41, C41W, C51, C61, C61W, C61K, Gemini or otherwise C71KW), standalone HD receivers from H20-H24, and regular HDDVR receivers HR20-HR24 along with the R22 and THR22. There are also SD-DVR/SD receivers compatible but these are obsolete with DIRECTV shutting down MPEG-2/SD feeeds on 101 so that would have to be replaced.

Huh? There are way more than 10 different receiver models, never mind Clients of them.

By "single line LNB" do you actually mean SWM? (Single Wire Multiswitch)? If so then there are many.

HDDVR: HR20 thru HR24.

HD non-DVR: H21 thru H25

Genie: HR34, HR44, HR54 (and revised HR54R1)

Genie Lite: H44

Genie-2: HS17 (1st run or revised with eSATA port removed, no R1 designator)

Mini Genie Clients: C31 thru C61

Wireless Mini Genies: C41W and C61W

4K Mini Genie: C61K

Gemini Client: C71KW

Only one Genie/Genie Lite/Genie-2 can be on the account.

Genie-2 forbids everything but Clients.

R22 works as long as you have an H or HR model on the account. It is MPEG-4/HD capable. A special model released when some markets went to MEPG-4 locals, even if you still had SD-only service at the time.

THR22 (last TiVO collaboration) works on SWM but is not compatible with Whole Home DVR. Pay for TiVO service on top of all other receiver services.

D12 and R16 did work on SWM, but were not Whole Home DVR compatible. But as they are MPEG-2/SD-only, they must be replaced by anyone who has them since MPEG-2 is shutting down. Naturally you cannot activate those models anymore.

And there are many models older than that listed, but those are the ones that can (or could) work on SWM. What is your situation? Perhaps we can help narrow down your options as there are some ins and outs to what DirecTV currently has available. What are the models of each box you have now?

I have Genie HR54-700 Gen 3 in living room with 4k receiver also . Then I have HD DVR HR24-500 in another room and they work fine , but I want to replace the 24 with a HR54 and buy it new off eBay then call DRTV to activate it .

Typo on my part: I meant to state that HD receivers H20-H25 are compatible with a SWM LNB. Apologies..

I know H20 is not Whole Home DVR/Multi Room Viewing (MRV) compatible, but it does work on SWM? So similar (though MPEG-4) to in-between like D12 and R16?

H20 is compatible with SWM systems, but, like the THR22 and R16/D12, it does NOT have WHDVR functionality. So, yes, it is in-between.

You can only get compatible receivers. Outdated ones are no longer offered. DirecTV also does not reactivate used boxes (as owned options went away years ago).

So what is your situation that you are concerned your box would not work?

If you have a Genie and Mini Genie Client (like we discussed years ago), then HR24 would be your best option if you can get one. Works with the regular Genie line and provides 2 tuners and 500GB recording space (so similar to your old HR22).

Order from DirecTV and if additional than will schedule an install, but if replacing the Mini Genie they 'might' be able to drop ship it. If DirecTV cannot order one in your area, then something like Solid Signal (authorized retailer) would be your option at one-time least cost $199 (still 24 month service agreement).

Unfortunately AT&T had been pushing away from traditional receivers in favor of a one-size fits all setup that wasn't flexible for the customer by easier on the company. Hope the new co-owner changes that direction.

You can't have any more Genies on the account.  DTV only allows one Genie per account.

@Satellite21

I apologize, I missed your clarifying post. Here is the info you need:

DirecTV does not reactivate boxes anymore. So any that were owned can not be used by someone else.

Genie (HR54) has never had a owned option. They have been lease-only since your old HR34. So on eBay that is either someone who didn't know they were supposed to return it or it is stolen.

You cannot have multiple Genies on the account. You can only have one, but can have multiple regular HDDVRs (such as your HR24).

Sorry but for those reasons you cannot use a 2nd Genie no matter where you get it (much less eBay).

Just for your information, there is no 4K 'receiver'. The C61K is a Client. Difference is a receiver has a tuner and can work by itself, but a Client requires the Genie as is an extension of it.

As posted b y a number of people, you can't have multiple genies on one account. It does not matter where you get it, directv won't activate it. Why do you want anotherDVR? Is the HR24 not working properly?
