wireless video bridge
Can I box in my wireless video bridge so you cannot see it or does it have to be in the open to work properly?

The WVB uses WiFi to setup a separate network to the C41W/C61W minis so long as you don't block/degrade the RF signal then yes.

WVB is up to 80 feet under ideal conditions. So if you "box" it, that may degrade the signal a little depending on how much that barrier is (and material it is made of). As long as you don't go overboard, should be fine.
Just make sure however you "box" it that there is ventilation. Electronics don't like excess heat.
You could also consider relocating it to a different reachable spot. That way you still have optimum coverage, and no heat issues, but don't deal with whatever your issues are with seeing it.

Thank you and all good points. I am worried it will overheat so need to rethink the type of box I use.

Alternatively, you could see about replacing the wireless Mini Genie with a HDDVR. That way you get 2 tuners and 500GB recording space, no increse in cost, and don't have that extra WVB box on top of all the TV boxes. For as long as they are still available through authroized retailers (i.e. Solid Signal), since AT&T was pushing for an all-in-one setup instead of more freedom per TV. (some peopel can order from DirecTV, others it doesn't list, so wonder if it is regional stock or only available for grandfathered customers).
Unless you have the Genie-2 (HS17, has WVB built-in but can use external WVBs for more coverage). That model forbids receivers, only allowing Clients.
Some food for thought so you have all your options.

An HDDVR might be an even better option. That would take care of the Mini I'm trying to hide that's hanging off the wall. I'll check on that option with DirectTV tomorrow.
Thanks Juniper!! Very helpful

You're very welcome. Keep in mind, only Mini Genie Clients have the wireless option. So if they can order an HDDVR, it would be tech installed to put the coax at that TV.
This is certainly a benefit of the originalGenie line (HR34, HR44, HR54). Working with HDDVRs gives a bit more flexibility and reliability to the overall setup. I acknowledge that wireless Clients have their place, just not for my household as we need the 9 tuners (overlapping recordings) and separate hard drives (prevent others from accidently deleting my stuff).
