How do I do a factory reset on my HR24-200 receiver?

Is  a factory reset in which all programming is erased the only way to reboot the system. If I replace the Receiver DVR will it retain my recordings?

How do I get my tv to record inside home using dvr

Considering full U-Verse TV, internet, phone package.  Existing cable and wired ATT phone come into a wall box inside the house.  All phone jacks come from box and cable locations come from splitters in the same box.  How will U-Verse connect to this arrangement?
