Accidently erased tv show

Can an erased recording be retrieved?

My remote has gotten into the habit of 'bouncing.' I'll click the remote once and it sends 2 clicks and erases the show I want to see. I when I erase on purpose ALWAYS get a message stating that the recording will be kept until space is needed. I have plenty of space so where is my erased program???

I would like to know if I can find and retrieve recordings tha I inadvertently erased before getting a chance to watch it?
