DIRECTV STREAM Cancellation Policy - Legal Policy Center

To cancel an order: The account owner should  sign in  and go to Manage my TV Subscription. Choose Cancel my subscription and follow the prompts. Once your DIRECTV STREAM service is cancelled, you can continue accessing your service through the end of your monthly billing cycle.

What am I supposed to be responding to? I don't see any answers to me comment. I still can't find the area to CANCEL your service.

You log into your account on the DIRECTV STREAM site as instructed.

The really cool part is that they won't let you cancel. every device you use, every browser, every OS... incognito or not, extensions and plugins or not, you get the same message:

Try chatting and they'll bounce you from one person to the next and never let you cancel. What an incredible scam this is.

Technical issues are not a scam. Remember, a new co-owner has taken over the reins of both TV services (satellite and streaming-only). Services are going through updates and acquisition pains. Hopefully it goes quicker than when AT&T first acquired the DirecTV brand.

If online and over the phone aren't resolving, then file a BBB complaint. That at least kicks it up to the corporate level.

Award for excellence....never had a streaming service not allow me to cancel my subscription. What a (Edited per community guidelines) service...does not allow you to cancel. When you click on "cancel my subscription" it defaults to "keep my subscription" and won't work when you continue to hit "cancel my subscription"...classy

Wrong. They won’t let you cancel through chat. You have to call in so they can try to talk you out of it. Just call your credit card company and tell them to stop the recurring charge, and leave them a 1-star review everywhere you can.

Tried cancelling my service through chat as suggested. The chat button doesn't work. You shouldn't have to call somebody to cancel your service. What is this, 1990?

Doesn't matter if 1990 or 2090. Real people still exist. Not everything is locked to computer options with no human interaction. Tone of voice and subtle clues are impossible through chat.

Chat is only supplementary to customer support. So only works when one of that group is available.

Would you prefer to have this issue of chat being available and not having calling as a backup? Age of robots isn't here yet.

So I click on the button circled in red and absolutely nothing happens. THAT is what the problem is.

And no, you shouldn't have to need phone support as a backup. I definitely didn't need it to sign up for DirecTV....which was very easy. Why is it such a problem now that I want to cancel?

The purposely want you to call so they can try to change your mind. It's been this way forever.

In any case, chat is the supplemental support option. Chat cannot "hear" you so has limitations.

They want a live agent to discuss the situation and see if they can retain your business. Since chat does not convey any audio clues it does not serve that purpose very well.

You may wish to avoid human interaction, but that is not how the business is setup.

It "is" how the business is setup. A real human chatted with me, not just the bot. The site itself says you can cancel via chat. I don't need a pitch and it won't do them any good to try -- I've already switched my service elsewhere. I just canceled the auto-billing through my credit card company. problem solved.
