What brand tv do you own? Go to the app store on your tv and search for Directv and download it if available. Directv app isn't available on all tv's. Otherwise you need a Roku, AppleTV, Firestick or a Directv device (Gemini box or Gemini Air).

You lookup and download the DirecTV app like any other app through your TV's app store.
Not all "smart" TVs support the DirecTV app. If your doesn't, you would have to get a compatible streaming box instead (Roku, Firestick, etc.).
Even if your TV supports the app, they tend to have lackluster performance. A dedicated streaming box is preferred. Plus TVs don't keep up to date for apps like those dedicated boxes, as apps are secondary so they want to sell you a new TV instead.
If you have satellite service (as opposed to streaming-only), be aware that the app will be a bit limited compared to what is on your TV boxes. It is a secondary perk, not what the service model was built around.
