DTV STREAMING with older not-smart TV

I have an older JVC TV that is not a smart TV but does have HDMI in my bedroom. I want to switch from DTV SATELLITE to DTV STREAMING.  What can I purchase to make this TV work with DTV STREAMING?

You can use any streaming device, like Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, or DirecTV Stream boxes.

Hey @chapmana0216. We recommend our Gemini Air for the ultimate TV streaming experience. More info here: DIRECTV Gemini Air | Our Best TV Experience At No Extra Cost. We're also sending you a DM so our specialist can discuss and review your options.

Thanks for your input, @litzdog911! Rizza, DIRECTV Community Team

All streaming boxes (Roku, Firestick, even the specific DIRECTV STREAM box) connect by HDMI. Just the same as your satellite box, game consoles, or other similar devices.

The two services are separate. You must call DirecTV to cancel. Be aware service and billing do not stop early. So be careful when you start streaming service if you don't want them overlapping. DirecTV boxes you ship back to them if still returnable models.

Also make sure to check the channel lineup. Even packages that seem to have the same name are not guaranteed to have the same channels between satellite and streaming-only.

I just go Direct TV installed.  All my TV's are smart yet the installer could not get the Direct TV set-up on the TV's .  One TV, the newest was working when he left.  I have one Gemini Air so our main TV is working.  Now it looks like I need to purchase specific TV's that work with Direct TV or pay $10.00 per month for each Gemini Air I need to get the other TV's working. Someone should have reviewed this prior to setting up Direct TV at my house.  I bought a package now I need to pay more to get the service to work.  They cannot even tell me which TV I can buy that would work with Direct TV.  Everyone just says a Smart TV is all that is needed but that's not true.  I probably need to cancel the service.

@Dacos

Sounds like you are trying to use the DirecTV app on the TV itself. Though there are 'smart' TVs that can use it, not usually recommended. A dedicated streaming device, even if not DirecTV's Gemini (so Roku, Firestick, etc.) is usually better.

Be aware that having DirecTV or DirecTV via Internet installed comes with a standard 24 month service agreement. There hasn't been a grace period, so once installed/activated, sale is final and service agreement is secured. Only if you had gone DIRECTV STREAM the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) model, so no equipment provided by DirecTV and not them installing anything, would there not be a service agreement.
