DirecTV boxes (satellite or streaming) have their own remote control.
If you are using the app (streaming-only or as a perk of satellite), you use the remote control for whatever streaming device you are using (Roku, Firestick, "smart" TV, etc.).
DirecTV is television service only. It does not provide phone service. Also the boxes do not connect to your phone line, as that compatibility was removed years ago. Receiving service from satellite and/or internet is how it works now.
If you are looking to combine DirecTV onto your phone bill (joint bill), it depends who your phone service is through if they partner with DirecTV. Personally I suggest not to do this. The phone bill will not be very detailed about DirecTV, so I find it easier to read DirecTV's own bill. Also, some companies (CenturyLink/Qwest) restrict what you are allowed to watch based on their principals.
