30 Day policy?

Howdy,

So we had u-verse installed on 11/23, TV/Internet.  Ever since we've had to reboot the box about once a day, they want to send a technician out, but at this point, I don't like the fact I'm already having problems and want to just cancel as the internet speed of 18 mbps isn't even that great.  From what I can tell, u-verse offers a 30 day money back guarantee.  Am I under the correct assumption that if I call them prior to 11/23 I will not be locked into the year contract?

Thanks,

@billb1981 Used to be able to see it listed under the Offer Details (w/in 30 days ago) on the Uverse order page, but is not there anymore.  So, don't know if it still exists. Smiley Surprised

You are correct that if cancel all services within first 30 days would avoid the one year contract with the $180 ETF.

However it is not a 30 day money back guarantee....

You will owe for installation charges (may have been waived with TV service), activation charge of $49, actual days of usage (2 weeks would 50% of first bill), plus Amy one time charges such as On Demand movies, plus taxes and fees.

Additionally, once canceled will need to take all equipment to a UPS store front with information provided to return. Have 21 calander days to so or be charged for the equipment per TOS.

That's incorrect. The money-back guarantee (which is what it is called) waives any regular monthly charges if all services are cancelled within the first 30 days.

I agree with @MyThoughts not that I am backing him up since he is an employee as well but the 30-Day MoneyBack Guarantee only covers the duration of the member's service charges however any OTC(one time charges) such as the installation or any extra charges that was added aside from it will not be covered.

Care to point out where? The customer would have no bill? A $49 activation fee, usage of certain services plus taxes and fees.

From site link listed above...

AT&T U-verse TV: Promotional pricing applies to service rates only and excludes taxes, equipment fees and other charges including a $29 installation fee, $49 service activation fee, city video cost recovery fees, where applicable, and a Broadcast TV surcharge. Residential customers only. Credit restrictions may apply. Pricing, programming and features subject to change at any time without notice.

30 Day Money Back Guarantee: Offer ends 2/1/15. Must cancel all AT&T U-verse services within 30 days from service activation. Adjustment provided for monthly recurring charges only. Customer is responsible for all additional charges including but not limited to installation, On Demand, Pay Per View, international calls, other pay-per-use features, non-returned equipment charges and any other one time fees.

Agree in part with both of you.  As MicCheck highlighted, the regular monthly service charges are refunded under the guarantee.  What surprises people are things like installation charges, and any Pay Per View,On Demand or metered Voice charges.
