Best low-cost plan for minimal TV watcher

i watch maybe 40 hours of TV a year, sometimes less than 30, all sports. is there an on demand thing i can get through my computer - or even a digital plan for $20 a month or so, guaranteed not to change? I'm legally bilnd & on fixed income, & my current cable till be $30 a month so I'd like to drop it if I can. Ideally, I'd watch everything on computer - I could pay a certain amont at mlb.com - but unless I did something wrong I can't access the WatchESPN app on my Android unless I have U-verse TV. What would it cost to transfer from cable; I don't even have a digital converter yet.

I purchase Time Warner Cable for my dad and step mom.  It is bare bones basic TV plan and it runs $21 after taxes.  They have no computer and thus no internet.  You mention WatchESPN and cable TV in the same breath, that part is confusing.  Are you wanting to dump cable and keep internet?  Comcast had a basic plan that included maybe 30 channels, plus High Speed internet, StreamPix and Go HBO for $40.

dfbaseball5714 - The good news is that watching on the internet is just starting to take off. The bad news is you have to figure out what you want to watch, then see if you can find a way to do it. And, the rules are so complicated

We probably need/ It is timely for an independent Forum that people post where they find various programming.

The least expensive source would be over the air. In digital, it is a great picture. Of course, it does not get you "cable channels". Go here to find what you can get & what you need for an antenna - http://antennaweb.org/default.aspx

Watch ESPN (web access) is very confusing It does say you need a TV provder subscription for access & it does verify to that provider. The oddity is ESPN3. It is internet onlly & it is possible to have a watch ESPN account without going through a TV provider. Give it a try & see if you can watch ESPN3 events.

Check out HULU, Crackle, netflix, Amazon prime

Once you decide what you want to watch, google for it to see if it is available anywhere.

Watch ESPN3 is available if you have Internet service from Uverse. Over the air antenna and some of the newer services will help. I think Apple and sling TV are offering limited channel services without a pay TV subscription later this year.
