New Retention Policy - Does AT&T actually care if they keep customer?

Is anyone else having issues with the new retention policy? I used to have both Uverse tv and internet, but I switched to Dish and only kept the internet. However, uverse tv was great, I only switched companies because Dish had a better deal. They still have the best tv deal and honor thier loyal customers unlike AT&T. I've been a loyal customer for over 5 years and I've never missed a payment, but the only offer a $10 credit for my internet. I'm on a fixed disability income, and my insurance and medical bills are going to increase next year, so I can't afford my bill going from $47 to almost $80.  My mother and cousin already changed companies, and I presume the changes are because they bought Direct TV and are trying to force people into signing up for a "bundle"  package. Even when they do this, the promotion ends after 12  months of the 24 month contract.

 

I know of already 3 people changing services because of their lack of retention polcy. Is AT&T trying to push away all of their existing customers?  TWC, WOW, and Dish constantly send me promotions and I wanted to stay loyal to AT&T, but it's not possible if they can't match or give more than a $10 promotion.....
