OMG!! This is crazy!!!!
AT&T hasn't sent bills, has not called, e-mailed nada stating my service would be cutoff and having switched banks I never received any e-bills.
The back up battery was beeping so I went to My ATT today and there was this huge $800 bill...
OMG!!! Turns out my discounted price plan expired, 2.5 months pass without my recognizing I owed money as I pay bills as they come in, so I quickly downgrade my plan and re-up on a plan but guess what?!?!?
ATT will not retroactively adjust my bill...the Uverse retention guy says accounts payable should, tell them the above and they SHOULD adjust the bill.
I then get shuttled around to various people and hit the proverbial brick wall. Too bad - you are screwed, not going to help you!
They do not attempt to collect past due, do not state my service would be cutoff which would at least alert me that I missed a bill, so I didn't know I was past due ...they happily overcharge me for a couple of months and ....
The right thing to do, given that both sides contributed to this situation, is to retroactively adjust my bill.
WE CAN'T DO THAT! Sure they can but I don't have an extra $800 sitting around and I think the fair thing to do is to adjust my bill. This is FRAUD

@alchemist2015 Sounds like you just didn't do anything about it for a couple months and finally woke up.
Know I check things weekly or sooner to see what was charged, paid in/out of the bank, etc.
Also I get an email from ATT as soon as the bill comes out, w/the due date and amount about 2 weeks b4 due date.
Don't agree you should retroactively get the adjustment on the bill, it is up to you to take care of those things, not up to ATT to notify you. 😉

Strange - when I first signed on to U-Verse, I got a phone call from AT&T telling me that I hadn't paid my first two bills. I thought I had autopay set up, but back then, it didn't take effect until you had already made a payment. In fact, not only did they let me pay the outstanding balance over the phone, but pay for the next month as well, and after that, they started accepting my automatic payments.

Seems to me you work for ATT...No I didn't just wake up - I have an extremely busy life. If you don't work for ATT you should - you'd fit right in!
LOL. Screw the customer attitude! Of course ATT should have contacted me as any other service provider would have when I was late on my payment. I certainly do not manage my life perfectly but what company who is owed money, not contact the customer or threaten to cut off service if a bill wasn't paid timely? None!

What is your point? Yes I called to pay but wanted a fair adjustment based upon the circumstances and chain of events.

It's always easier to blame someone else!
Might want to check your spam folder for past emails.

Sure are a lot of angry trolls on this site...
Pointless jabs - clearly you (collectively) haven't either read my postsin full or simply do not comprehend. Yes I messed up but so did they! ATT is a utility. No other utility would have behaved so blatantly fraudulently as ATT has in this case. There is a term called CRAMMING or CRAM DOWN...that is what this is and it's illegal.

I'm simply a Uverse user like you, and everybody that has posted, but it is up to you to keep track of those things, not ATT. We're not angry trolls, were just telling you to act like an adult you are and face and take care of your responsibilities. Too busy doesn't cut it.
Also think you better check the email address ATT has for you as you don't seem to be getting the emails you should have gotten. 😉

A - I am not asking anyone's opinions whether I am right or wrong. You boys are boys with nothing better to do than troll this site.
B - I have been a successful businessperson for over 30 years and I take responsibility for my part but MY POINT is that ATT intentionally did not contact me and that is CRAMMING and FRAUD.
You boys are too young to know anything. Keep your judgments to your selves. I haven't asked for your opinion and don't want it - I want ATT to do the right thing which is adjust my bill so I can pay what is FAIR.

Click on the blue envelope at the top right of the screen to send a private message. The ATT customer care people might be able to help you out. You will still probably have to pay the late fees but hopefully they can get the account billing resolved.

Thank you - First show of kindness. The Uverse retention guy who understood and agrees with me already reversed late fees. Just using this forum to escalate to the highest levels of Accounts Payable to find someone, anyone who will use common sense. I've been a happy customer for many years. I'd like to stay a customer. My future bills will be reasonable. I am more than happy to pay them but the amount is twice what it should be and I need to find someone with the authority to make the right decision. I only ask for fairness and have already rectified items so that I receive my bills on a timely basis. So thank you. Appreciate your response.

If you ever have an issue with Uverse, the private message is the best way to get help after trying tech support and billing. Remember that practically all the members here are customers first who want to help others. I have had several questions and problems solved here. The best thing to do here is state your situation and ask what to do.

That is just too funny, your first post never asked for help, just how you are being cheated by ATT and it's FRAUD.
If you would've asked for help, I'd have sent you to ATT Customer Care, like I do for hundreds each month. It was always there in my signature, Need help? 😉

I'm lost, how is it AT&T's fault that your promotional rate expired and you forgot to change your account info when you changed banks?

Not everybody posts for help, many just come here to rant.
Like the user today that posted his letter he's sending to the FTC and never posted when he had his trouble, we could've helped him then and I let him know.
I'm old enough to know to keep an eye on things I detailed in my first post and a few years from retirement age.
