Taking U-Verse Service Away from Areas
Never in my life have I heard of decreasing coverage. I went through the entire process of signing up for U-Verse online only to get an email saying my order could not be completed, that I needed to contact AT&T immediately regarding the service. So I call and they proceed to first tell me that the internet speed wasn't available, but I could get the next lower. I say ok, oh well, maybe that upgrade will come soon. So I get put on hold to complete that and then the person comes back online to tell me that TV service is not available at that address due to bandwidth issues. I say that's funny, because I had U-Verse at that very address 4 years ago, so then I'm told it's because too many people in that area have service so they have to "spread the bandwidth out". REALLY???
So...no new customers??? I am dumbfounded. Four years ago I had service and AT&T hasn't been able to upgrade to bring the service up to par for the area? That's pathetic. I was pretty excited too, returning from a rural area that has pretty crappy service, so I was looking forward to going back to U-Verse, you know, since I had it 4 YEARS AGO. Thanks AT&T for screwing me out of service, good luck on keeping the customers you have since you can't add any new ones. Next to go will be my cell service when my contract is up in the summer. I'll give you back your cell bandwidth so you can "spread it" to other customers.

Just so happens that I can visually see 2 residences within eyesight of my residence yet I was told the same thing. The truth of the matter I believe after having the chance occasion to talk with some cellphone tower installers/repairmen (sorry don't know their actual title), is that AT&T recently (or maybe still in the process) acquired Direct Tv and the tenative plan is by 2020 all DSL tellecommunications through AT&T will convert to Satellite Technology. Years ago when fiber optics first came on the scene the average cost was about $1,000.00 per foot after installation. Having said that it doesn't seem to cost effective to keep installing this pricey cable when it is soon to be useless. Again, this is just information conveyed to me by others, I have no first hand knowledge, but it is aweful intersesting!!!

Send them a PM. Explain your issue and include:

4) A billing number, if you have one
5) Anything else you think may be relevant to getting your issues fixed such as addresses
Someone will respond within 2-3 business days. You see that blue envelope on the top right of your screen? Watch that...when it changes to a "1", then there's a reply.

@kjoseph270 I'd say there are no empty ports for VDSL service (TV/Internet/phone) now out the the VRAD you used 4 years ago.
Now are offering ADSL2+ service (Internet/phone) from that VRAD or an IRAD or Central Office.
Nothing they can do to easily make ports available for VDSL service. Hope ATT Uverse Care can give you better info, but I'm kinda doubting it. 😉

Not sure how it would be seen though to satifactory resolution...I mean, I get it, but it just sucks. I don't see how AT&T expects to gain new customers or turn people on to their product if they don't make it available until they roll into their future plan or whatever they are going to do with DIRECTV or Giga-bit, or what have you. Meanwhile, Big cable companies are expanding, and so are U-Verse competitors, that's what I don't get it...but I'm not big business, I'm just the little guy who got to pitch my itch with a "b" to vent and make me feel better and then take my business elsewhere (and probably never come back).
Lots of emotion over it I know, just the effort trying to get through the signup process and then being told "oh wait, nevermind." I'm still in the aftershock of the experience. Maybe a solution will come sooner rather than later (doubtful). But the timing with new contracts or discounts can box you into a corner with a competitor and when service becomes available then I'd be stuck.
...all that said, thanks for the info @baseballisback, I'll give it a shot and see where it goes.

Just to tack onto the back end of the customer service phone call the auto email I received from AT&T telling me the order couldn't be completed and to call a number promised a $50 gift card if I made the call. Honestly I didn't really care about it I just wanted a solution, but the customer service rep never said a word about it during the conversation. I doubt it's automatic. Again, the gentlemen was nice enough, and I didn't fault him for the issue or speak rudely to him, I actually told him I understand it's not his fault, but that it really sucked lol.
