Terrible terrible service

Not that it matters, but I'm currently 39 weeks pregnant and just spent 4 hours on the phone with AT&T. We had cancelled our u-verse back in March because we had moved and returned our equipment in April. They have no record of creating the return label and apparently never received it. Since April I have called several times and was always reassured that it just merely wasn't reflecting on our account yet. I received a call this morning that we were being sent to collections because it wasn't paid so I called AT&T, I was hung up on 4 times, talked to a supervisor who had me on hold for 45 minutes and then hung up, finally talked to a sales representative of all people who at least filed an investigation claim for me. So disappointed, a company I've had for more than 10 years....we will now be taking our business elsewhere.

Wow that is terrible....you would think that AT&T would have sent you an e mail or letter that would have indicated that they had not received the equipment just after the 10 day return date.

Do you have a copy of the receipt from the shipping company that you used to return the items?

If so you need to provide them with a copy of that receipt.

Good luck and post back with an update as to the outcome.

Thanks.

Unfortunately I don't have the receipt. They had printed and mailed the label so they only tracking info I had was from the post office. Since it was back in April I had tossed it, but learned my lesson.

I might be reaching at straws, however you might want to go back to USPS office you sent the equipment from and if you can remember the approximate day you sent the items they MIGHT possibly have a record of that shipment and the receipt in their system. Give it a try.

Unfortunately you CANNOT trust AT&T to follow though with things most of the time unless you stay on top of things yourself....

No matter which internet and television provider company I deal with when sending equipment back or even at a brick and mortar store point that many cable cos have....

I ALWAYS make sure to get a copy of the receipt with the following items on it...

my own name. the equipment serial numbers, and the address of the place the item is going to. HOLD ONTO THAT RECEIPT FOR ONE YEAR!

Then after a business week I call the provider and ask if the equipment I have returned has been processed in their system, if so i get the name of the customer service rep and their operator ID #, and write down any reference numbers they have....

IF IT HASN'T BEEN RECEIVED I HAVE THE CUST REP PUT IN NOTE IN MY ACCOUNT ABOUT THIS, AND PROVIDE THEM WITH THE RECEIPT INFORMATION I HAVE.

I will call the provider again after another serveral days, at that point if the items have not made it to the provider i will call cust service reps and have them open up a case about it. if necessary I will fax or send a copy of the receipt to the provider.

I hope you meant to type UPS. AT&T doesn't use the USPS for returning equipment. And they typically don't print return labels. Returned equipment is to be taken to a UPS store. They inventory, pack and ship the equipment. They use your account number when returning the equipment.

Send the pm to at&t as instructed in the second post

They printed and mailed a USPS label for me, they only contract with UPS and we don't have a UPS store anywhere near us

I will definitely be more proactive about staying on companies from now on. Unfortunately I've always given every company the benefit of the doubt, assuming everyone has honest intentions which is not always the case

I was generalizing about any provider, but hopefully the OP might remember what date he took the equipment in and I would think that USPS might still have a record of that in their system at the store he shipped from....

Are you going to go down to the post office you sent the items from and see if they might have your shipment record in their database...you might get lucky!
