Who do I call for help, really?
I am tired of calling "customer service", I need to speak to someone who can help me with a bogus bill.

I'll try that. Any idea of their response time?

Typically 2-3 business days. Include your real name, a phone number for them to call you, your billing number and address, a link to this thread and any information you feel as to why you believe your bill is bogus.
You know the reply is in your box when you see the blue envelope with a number "1" right beside it.
I know that's a lot of information, but it'll help speed things along.
These aren't the regular customer service people, but highly specialized AT&T employees that know the people who can really get things done.

Thanks for that info. I have sent a PM, but of course, I did not give them all that they needed. and I certainly don't want to wait 2-3 business days for them to ask me for that, and then send another back, and then wait again.....
sigh
Thanks again.

Just to let everyone know, I did receive a phone call last night at home from a "specialist", who has promised to make this bogus bill go away.
Fingers crossed!

I logged into my account today, and I HAVE A CREDIT BALANCE! I no longer have an outstanding bill for services that I was not using!
I feel like it's a miracle, especially after the AGONIZING hours I spent on the 800 "Customer Service" line. There was no reason that I should have to go through all of this after my phone number was ported over to another service provider.
Spread the word! Help is available, if you know where to look!

Call the office of the president. Keep in mind you have to leave a message and they call you back when they have time. Also, What I have been told is that AT&T processes are pretty munch set in stone and the only thing they do is explain to you how it works and you have to comply.

I've been told that too ("set in stone"). It is not true. Nothing is set in stone! After countless hours of calls to the 800 numbers, my problem was handled in a timely and efficient manner just now. I won't log all the details here, but just wanted to give hope that maybe they "loosened" their practices on who can give credits/promos/adjustments, etc. I have to check back online in 24 to 48 hours to confirm that my account reflects what the employee told me just now.
