Why did my monthly U-verse bill increase if my promotion hasn't expired yet?
When I signed up to the u-verse service with AT&T we agree on a price of $129 per month plus tax for 12 months. I am into my 8th month and they billed me $130 instead. I called them and they said because they are in a highly competitive business and costs is going up. I asked them if I lost my job my can I pay you less? It is only a dollar but the point is we had an agreed upon price for a year and they did not honor their agreement. They even have the audacity to say they increase the price for everyone not just me. Is it so hard for a business to honor their agreement? Needless to say, I will be changing my services.

Last monday of the july 06, 2015 I have called u-verse to disconect my service, because my bill going up after the first 12 months,
Usually i only have to pay 39.95$ for my internet, but after 12 months the bill go up to 49.99 and then 57$...
So I plan to disconect so I can get a new promotion... I called to this number (1800-288-2020) and I told the lady that i want to disconnect my service, she asked me why?, I told her that because the price was too high and it's keep going up, she said '' she can feels me, she probably will called to u-verse if she has the same problem... and then she start to give me a new promotion discount, and I asked her ''how much I have to pay for the next month?'' she said ''Somewhere between 25-30$ for the next 12 months, which mean I will pay under $30 for the next 12 months I was so happy that time...
.......But thing went so bad after I noticed that she was lying to me......
On july 7, 2015 I called them back to make sure that my next bill gonna be somewhere between 25-30$ like what she have said, but another agent told me that she already note down that i'm agreed the contact with them for 12 months and my bill gonna be 42$ each months if I disconnect now I will have to pay 180$ for the cancelation fee, I told them that I never agreed to do anything with the contact, but all they keep saying that they can't do anything for me cuase the lady already notes down that im in contact for 12 months and i have to pay 42$ each months for the 12 mb internet, I ask them to let me talks with the supervisor, but they said he was busy so i have to leave my contact to them and he will get back to me within 48 hours, but until now i have received no call form them...
Please help me guys thanks you all....

I have had similiar issues,
1) The package we found online, from the ATT website, was not in the computer when we called and got signed up.
2) I had to tell the sales rep to go onto her own website to see the package.
3) After 15 minutes, the "manager" finally was able to put together the correct package that they advertised
4 (HERE IS WHERE THE PROBLEMS REALLY START). 3 months into the contract, our bill went from $129 a month to about $270, it was because our promotion of free channels expired and we had to pay, we said we didn't want that promotion and to cancel it, so our bill was once again, $129.
5) On month 4, our bill jumped to $257, we called and asked why, "there was a glitch" and they fixed it.... 2 days later, our service was disconnected. We called back, and the "manager" who ordered the cut-off put a fake name on the report, so there is no way to hold anyone accountable.
6) Month 5 and 6, same thing, our bill jumped up to over $250. My wife literally just got off the phone 3 days ago and got it settled, so our bill was back to $129.
7) Today, we woke up with an email saying our new bill was $497.52. WHAT? We haven't called up there yet, but why can't the clowns working in the call center get anything right? Why have I had to call for 4 months in a row to correct our bill and stop getting over/more-than-double charged? Does anyone have a way to file an official complaint?

I'm with you, I will be changing services. Their customer service representative told me to stay with them one more month and that they would have a better promotion for me after they went up $90 on my bill (without and notification whatsoever). I called back and nope, he lied. These prices are outrageous.

A contract is a contract...small verbage at the bottom where it's hard to read is just screwing the customers over. Your so proud, then print it in bold text. AT&T has always been an underhanded company...I know, I used to work for a competitor and saw first hand how underhanded AT&T was and still is!

They think they are above everything. It's useless to even try to argue with them as you will get nowhere. The best deal would be to use other providers services.

AT&T is known for this kind of business. Their main goal is profit & greed, they do not care for their customers. I've spent many hours with them over the phone trying to get a better deal, all to no avail!!! I also have my dvr recordings erased 2 weeks before my bill is due each and every month! If I pay early, I have my recordings back within 30 minutes...every month folks, they are a deceitful company. I ony have their service because my apartment complex had a contract with them which excluded other competitors, otherwise, I would use a better provider.
The cost is outrages! but beware for those of you that bundle....if you get a landline phone in this deal but don't even need or use it, beware....down the line you WILL be charged for it at some point. While I was on the line with retention, they tried repeatedly to get me to bundle with a landline which I don't need or want. I was on the line with them for over an hour argueing about not only the price but the phone line they wanted so badly to get me to accept. I refused, I documented, and hope they don't try to charge me for that useless line. I have wi-fi, I don't need it. They don't send anyone out and I don't believe there really is a "phone line" it's only a ruse to charge you for something undeeded on down the line. By the way, landlines aren't used much anymore so why are they pushing them?

Don't be fooled, they know exactly what their doing, they've been doing this kind of service for years! When I worked for GTE long distance, AT&T would rook any and all customers to their side if the customer said the word "yes" in any sentence, not knowing they would be switched to AT&T.
I spent over an hour with retention the other day to lower my bill (which has been raised to a ridiculous rate) getting almost no deal at all.
BEWARE...they will try to bundle your service with a phone line you DO NOT need! The reason they do this is so they can charge you for it down the line when you least expect it. I argued, and I mean argued, with retention over not getting the phone line but lowering my bill....I was told at the end that I would not have a phone line added...we will see. I have wi-fi and don't need it so why else would they insist you get it if they didn't need another reason to overcharge you for something.
I hope you do file charges and if you do, I'd be glad to add my 2 cents worth with all the problems I have had with AT&T.
My other big deal with them is when my bill is due, 2 weeks before the due date, all of my dvr recordings disappear! It's usually later in the evening when that happens, but it happens. If I break down and pay EARLY, I get my recordings back within 30 minutes!....imagine that.
It's bad business, bad ethics, bad everything, but AT&T gets away with it over and over again.
Good luck with turning them in, like I said, I will add my experiences to yours if needed.
The PUC (Public Utilities Committee) is also another good outlet to contact.

Oops, PUC is Public Utilities Commission, either way, it's a state governed board and should be contacted too.

AT&T is a greedy company. They don't care about their customers, they care about making money only. Contact the state Attorney General and the PUC (Public Utilities Commission). The more complaints, the better.
The internet speeds they offer/charge you for, you will not get them either. They "throttle" the speed at high times of the day and they don't even give you the speed you pay for.

AT&T is know for this kind of business. They are the worst. They have call centers in several places, one of which is in India (of course). Everyone I know of had left AT&T and gone with another company. I used to have Time Warner and

Tip of the Day for @Wronged: Use the "Quote" button (top right of the text box) when replying to a specific post so we know who you are referring to. Otherwise we see 10 separate replies to 10 separate posts in a single thread and it's all very confusing.
Edit: There's also an "Edit Reply" option under "Post Options" (bottom left of text box).
Don't mess with old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

I have two year promotional rate. 1st bill correct. then it changed without my permission. I called before the install. I met all criteria, I verified that several times.& verified install date. Social manager changed it back to the correct pricing. It got changed back again within 9 days. This is not what I had my home drilled holes in for. Or an increase in my bill. It was a decrease. So I thought. A manager today said "sorry all of ATT who signed you up and gave you the promotion were wrong" My promotional contract is wrong? I don't think so. I am so frustrated.
