ATT ConecTech Service rep. says I need to pay more money in order for my IP camera to work

It was free and also was easy to setup DMZ zone when we had Comcast. Now we switched over to AT&T UVerse and we can't access our Security IP cameras from work.

We did everything the tech support rep. told us to do. He asked us to factory reset the router twice and do the setup process all over again. Being an experienced IT guy myself, I feel like the AT&T is just trying to get more money from my pocket by blocking access to my DMZ devices.

At the end the rep asked us to pay more in order to get access externally.

Have anybody had a same issue with IP cameras in UVerse ?

Hi @scottadler2,

We apologize about the issues, but we will be glad to help. Are you able to access the cameras from inside your house? If so, were you able to setup your cameras using DMZ mode. Below are posts that go over it:

Also, do you have your security camera connected directly to the U-verse gateway or is it going through some other device?

Yes, I can access my cameras from LAN IP ( 192.....) but not from outside.

The cameras are connected directely to the router. It seems like AT&T is blocking the connection.

Hi,

Have you tried putting the device in DMZ or passthrough mode? If so and it is still blocked, you may want to get a packet tracer program like wireshark to see what is happening with the packets. Also, you can try running a trace route to see where the path is failing.

You must do an AT&T version of port forwarding refered to as "Opening firewall pinholes"..... It is known as opening firewall ports or firewall port forwarding to the rest of the normal networking world.....

Open Browser

192.168.1.254

Settings

Firewall

Applications, Pinholes and DMZ

Enter I.P. address of camera

Click on Allow individual applications........

Create a User Defines Application for each camera and their associated I.P. addresses.

If you don't understand "Port Forwarding" do your research before starting this.

Good luck

Also... You should assign a static IP address and port to each camera

Also... You must know your public I.P. address to get back into your cameras from the outside.

Protocol should be set to TCP

In my past experience with ConnecTech I have found that their personel have been weighed, been measured and been found wanting.....
