Automatic Receiver shutdown is a problem for dementia patients

Hi,
I have a family member suffering from dementia and likes the TV to be on all night.  But after 4-6 hours, the receiver shuts off and they get upset because they forget which button to push.  Is there a way to deactivate the automatic shutoff?

No.  It's part of the requirements for that box to get an Energy Star rating I believe.

Some alternatives are (a) consider getting a antenna for over the air reception (a good idea for everyone IMO) then you can tune to one of your local stations and not even use the uverse equipment, or (b) a radio (assuming s/he doesn't require seeing a video screen).
