Building a new home, what pre-wiring can I do to help installation of U-verse tv
The title pretty much says it. I will have 3 TV locations. The TV's will all be wall mounted. Can they all operated with one receiver? I plan on putting the receiver in a closet and running a HDMI to the main TV. Do the other TV's just get co-ax? I also need RF remotes. I don't want to call some foreign country for an answer. Thanks in advance for your help.

Each tv needs it's own receiver. General connection layout is street connection to a gateway (router) usually through a wall connection (twisted pair or cat5 if fiber). Gateway is a cat5 (ethernet) connection to the dvr. Dvr connects to one of a tv (usually hdmi). The other tv's can be wireless or wired connections. For wireless the WAP (wireless access point) connects to the gateway (cat5) to communicate with the wireless receivers that can be connected to the other tvs. Distance and construction between the WAP and wireless receivers affect signal strength. So you could use cat5 connections instead. For wired receivers you use cat5 between the receiver and the gateway.
So in summary if you want to wire everything up your best bet is to use cat5e cabling. But you still will need a receiver for each tv if you want each tv independent from one another. One of those receivers will always be the dvr. But you can control the dvr from any of the other receivers with their own remote (doesn't have to be RF unless those receivers are hidden away too). And if everything is a wired connection those other receivers of course do not have to be wireless.
Note with this setup your dvr and gateway could be in a closet. Being in an enclosed closet you also need to ensure there's enough ventilation for those devices. They give off heat.

Hi gkgeiger, if you are looking for pre-wiring installation advice then you should consult an expert electrician for sure. I have read the an article about electricians Chadds Ford PA yesterday, they are well known licensed professional electrician and provides all the electric damage repair and installation services. Such experts can give worth hiring service with the proper work. You should consult the electrician from your area or else can go with other options too.
