I have a Logitech Harmony 650 for over six years and it will control the TV, cable box and surround sound with one button. The same one button control for watching a DVD or listening to music. You program it thru your computer on the Logitech site. If you have any problems or issues just call Logitech tech support. It is a free call and their reps are very helpful.
John's recommend is a good one. I was trying to keep the cost down.
The next step up (from the 650) is the Logitech Harmony Smart Control that transmits IR from a hub. Its features include - Remote does not need pointing, change the battery once a year, control up to three instances of the same STB, includes app for portable device
John: Was looking over the 650 Manual and no mention of how to get to Recorded Programs. I cant wait until I get it to see how compares to the S10. I really like the S10 but maybe the 650 will change my mind.
Once you have the 650 programmed for your TV and receiver you just press the MENU button. It will bring up everything in the same format as the ATT remote.
There are two physical buttons missing from the 650/700 - DVR/Recordings & Back.
You can find these on the LCD screen.
Or, you can assign any button. Of course, you do not want to assign a button that already has an important function.
I believe I assigned RED as BACK and BLUE as DVR
Notice the large vertical button under the LCD screen - actually two buttons. I like them for FF & resume play. But, you may prefer BACK & EXIT. Freeing up EXIT to be DVR.
You can assign individual buttons to be what you prefer.
Are you looking at the same Harmony 650 that I have? The DVR Record/Play buttons on the 650 are just above the number pad. This controls the DVR functions...play, pause, skip, fast forward/back. The button with the red square to the left of the play/pause is the RECORD button. This comes in handy if you want to record one time from the guide and/or a show that you are watching without going thru the whole record option process.
The LCD screen shows the individual functions of the devices that are programmed to be used with the 650 if you prefer to use the remote this way. Personally I prefer the simpler the better even though other options are available.
@JohninFL - Yes, I know the DVR controls are above the number pad. I am refering to the DVR button that opens the DVR mgmt menu.
You can also access that menu via the main menu or 9999. I was going to mention that, but they are both longer. Today when we use the DVR so much, one button access is needed on a physical button or the top page of the screen.
On the u-verse remote it is recorded TV (just above go interactive)

The program is -
att/ok-977-att-tv-aux-enter (bottom right)
aux for DVR
TV for TV
aux for receiver
Assuming they are already programmed
You can place in any order you like.
Change list for any other, such as DVD
Always enter whole list, not just a new one to add.
How did you get an S-10?

That could be because the devices are not programmed. What is your TV brand? & receiver.
With the receiver, you may be better off with the S-20. Call for one. I guess you wanted the s-10 or you would not have bought it.
How about this one - http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=RCRP05BR

If you go to the Best Buy site you can do a side by side comparison for three remotes. The Logitech remotes are on sale now.
