Change HDMI source using remote

Just added Chromecast to my Sony Bravia. Worked great! Then realized that I couldn't change the source back to HDMI 1 to watch TV (and risked missing Sunday NFL, no less!).

The TV, TV/Video combination didn't work on the remote (S10-S4) . So, checked the following:

1) I have another TV connected to Uverse with a "silver" remote and the combination worked fine on it.

2) Completed the remote synchronization procedure on the Bravia to make sure the correct remote was selected. It was. I realized that that the problem almost certainly predated the Chromecast experiment. The source only switched in that case because the Chromecast installation procedure "forced" it. (A hard reboot without the Chromecase is the HDMI port also didn't change solve the problem, hence my conclusion that the problem has always been there; I had never tried to change the source before.)

3) Used my Samsung phone, which I had previously set up as a TV remote, and was changed the source. Interestingly, the "Menu" function for AT&T would not come up after I had used Chromecast, so, without the Samsung phone, I wouldn't have been able to complete Step 2 above either.

Now, while I appreciate that my phone solves this problem, I find it slightly annoying that the remote doesn't do what it is supposed to.

Any suggestions?

@Tsigan I find that if TV functions are sketchy and not working well, new batteries are in order as it takes more energy for TV control than Uverse control.

Normally I can press TV at the top and just press TV/Video to scroll thru the inputs, but when battery power is low, it'll just do nothing.  Then mute won't work, up volume and TV menu either, hard to turn on/off, I know it's time for new batteries.

Some times it'll work a little if I spin the batteries in the remote, but eventually they'll have to be replaced. 😉

@Tsigan- There are a couple of things that you can try -

After pressing the TV button, press every button on the remote to see what it might do. Some TVs have the input in the main menu with all the controls.

The code you selected for your TV previously satisfied your needs, so you stuck with it. Now you want more. So, you need to try all the other codes. Try the published ones, then do the search. If  the first code does not do it, keep going til you find one.

Try all the buttons on each code.

If that is too much work, get a more robust remote. This is probably the least expensive - http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=RCRP05BR

Any Logitech Harmony is a good investment if you add anything more to your setup.
