Charges-over two years and they can't get it fixed right!

So upset right now.  In 2017 we cancelled our service and returned the equipment.  I have called multiple times between then and now because they keep trying to charge me. Most recently I called in December, everything would be fixed I was assured.  Now they have turned around and given my account to debit collections! I called today and was on the phone for the first time for a half hour being put on hold so many times I lost count! Then he called me back and said it would be taken care of, he was transferring me over to debit collections to fix it.  She then tells me since they already sent it to debt collections she can't do a thing about it but give me the collections number!

I then call collections the the lady was EXTREMELY RUDE!  She tells me ATT verified 4 times that I owed because she says the equipment was supposedly late, it wasn't! She offers to drop the 165 owed to 91.  I explained that I wasn't going to pay 91 for equipment that was two years old at the time and was returned on time.  She tells me it's not her fault, she didn't make the contract with ATT and return things late.

This is the WORST customer service between the two companies.  I will be cancelling my Direct TV account now and ATT will loose a customer that pays 200 plus a month for a 165 charge from two years ago....bad business!!!!

Hi @missmartinrocks,

Since this has now been turned over to a collection agency, you will need to contact them for any further assistance with this as they have the tools necessary. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you for contacting the AT&T forums team.

AT&T SOLD your debt (real or perceived) to a collection agency for pennies on the dollar. At this point, AT&T has no further interest in the debt.

Let's say they sold a $165 debt for $80.  In a perfect world, the consumer would pay the entire amount but the agency is willing to take a smaller amount ($90) to recoup their investment plus a little extra.

You can have the debt flagged as a disputed debt.  More information HERE
