Cisco Wireless Receivers

I have two Cisco wireless receivers. For some reason, they always feel warmer than the three wired receivers which I also have with my U-verse system. Should I be concerned that they feel warm to the touch, or is that normal? Please advise. Thanks.

HI @Roadmaster1,

I have noticed that the wireless boxes are a little warmer than the other receivers. I am not sure if it is due to them being more compact or something else, but that is perfectly normal. Make sure you still leave them in a well ventilated area. If you do notice it ever become hot to the touch, let us know, and we can get it replaced.

Where are the wireless receivers located?  Is there proper ventilation in that area?  Are your wireless receivers sharing a power strip with other equipment?  Depending on your situation you may want to try a more industrial grade wireless receiver or a more industrial grade power supply.

Thanks very much for your response; I checked both wireless receivers, and they appear to be warmer than the other three receivers, which are not wireless. They appear to be warm, even when the television is off. I’m going to contact a U-Verse technician this week, to see if it is a problem, or if it is a false alarm. It may not be anything significant; however, I would feel better, once those wireless receivers are checked out. Again, thanks for your response.

Both of the wireless receivers are in a well ventilated area. I agree with you that they might need to be replaced. Thanks for your follow-up.
