Coaxle cable to Cat 5

I am getting terible reception on my wireless receiver on the 2nd floor.  Tried moving the WAP doesn't help becasue then can't get signal out to garage.  Question:  I already have coaxle cable running to the 2nd floor and I see there is a connection on the back of my gateway for it.  Can I use the coaxle cable to the back of my wirless receiver.  Also I see they make a coaxle to cat 5 coupling, will that work?

We would love to help with your connection, @kjs2rescue.

What you're wanting to accomplish in order to get a connection to your receiver should work. If you connect the Gateway to the coax loop in your home, then use a coax to Ethernet converter at the receiver's location and plug a Cat 5 or higher cable into the receiver, you should be able to connect the receiver to the network.

When your services were installed, did you get a strong signal to the receiver you're asking about? If you did, you may want to try rebooting the WAP and/or Gateway by unplugging it for about 20 seconds then plugging it back in. We also recommend trying to re-pair the receiver to the WAP by following the steps under Troubleshoot connection issues to see if that helps.

Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
