Do you need a dish?

I’m getting uverse Friday and I need to know if you need a dish for it. And I’ve also heard they dig trenches in your yard is this true also?

No for the dish, and if you are getting installed Friday, no to the trench too.

If you ordered uverse and not DirectTV then uverse uses FTTN or FTTP, fiber to the node (VRAD) and your copper telephone lines from VRAD to your house or fiber to the premises where att needs to lay a fiber cable to your home.  But fiber is done on an area/city basis well in advance of permitting fiber into that area for installation.  So if you haven't seen any trenches dug in your area by now it certainly isn't going to be done as part of an installation Friday!  And even then a trench for the fiber line is not required if your house is fed by overhead poles.

So you are getting FTTN using your existing telephone line.
