"Why would thete be a dsl connection on my wifi when i do not have a vpn." Do you mean dial connection? If so, it sounds like your computer is trying to phone home.

DSL and WiFi are different technologies used for digital communications. VPN is a type of connection that can traverse DSL and WiFi.

Assuming that you have AT&T High Speed Internet, then you have a ADSL2, ADSL2+ or VDSL2 connection between your Gateway and the AT&T network.  What you are likely seeing is the Gateway checking with the network configuration servers to make sure it's correctly set.

Your Gateway provides a Wi-Fi feature to allow you to connect Wi-Fi devices to it, and thus to the Internet.

My device is a wi/fi modem with att uverse. I thino it is called a netgear510. I only use it for my samsung s3 android phone.. no other computer. I connect to the internet just as a wifi connection. Its a WPA/WPA2 DHCP CONNECTION. When i log on to the wi/fi device and look at the logs under the diagnostic tab , I see where my phone enters and leaves numouras times but i also see where a ssl sbcglobal.net cwmp.c01 connects as a nameserver with a 68.94.###.$$ Ip address and then it says GetParameterValuesResponse ( chunk-length 10380) If i look up the ip address it say no such address . And it does this about 10 to 12 times then it tells itself to close the connection . It does this 5 or 6 times a day. Can anybody tell me what this is all about ?

GetParameterValues Response is related to Java.

The 68.94.x.x IP addresses are for the AT&T DNS servers.

Sounds like you have a Java app on your android phone that cannot reach a specific internet site. You may want to check to see if there are any known viruses for your phone.
