DVR isn't working correctly.

Do I need to call in to AT&T. If so what is the number?

For the past week or so, my DVR isn't working i.e. I can't access DVR'ed shows via the remote. If I hit that button on the remote, everything is empty and it'll state "No signal. Check the external imput or select another input using the INPUT button." I reboot several times and things will work ok for about 15 minutes then it messes up again.

I went ahead and called tech support and after about an hour of troubleshooting it was determined I needed a new DVR receiver. They are shipping to me via UPS and I should get on the 10th.

I was told I would lose all my recordings and I'll have to go back in and set up all the shows again to record. Is this true? What a pain.

Also after we did the troubleshooting, I was able to hit 'record' for certain shows but a lot of the shows on regular network stations, etc wouldn't allow me to record. It said something to the effect that I'm not allowed to record previously recorded shows. This didn't make sense since I had never previously recorded them. Like if I hit record on some show on NBC, I would get the banner up at the top telling me this show was previously recorded so I'm not able to record. This happened on many channels yet I never previously recorded those shows yet I was able to record some channels. Oh well...getting another DVR.

It sure would be nice if someone from AT&T would just come over and hook it up and take my old one away for me. The rep just gave me a billing UPS number and said I needed to fill out a UPS label with that billing number and take it to UPS. Wouldn't it have been much easier if AT&T at least supplied us with the label and we call UPS to come pick it up so we didn't have take it to their facility?

You will lose all of your recorded programs but you shouldn't have to reset up your scheduled recordings. I have had my DVR replaced and unless they are doing something new. My recording schedule was still there.

Thanks for the reply. That would be great if I didn't have to add all my program schedules back to the DVR but I believe the customer service lady told me it would be a brand new DVR and everything would be wiped clean.....but would love for all my programing schedules to still be there so I'll keep hope alive for at least that.

I have also had my DVR replaced and, like RCSMG, did not have to reprogram shows to be recorded.  Also, just for future reference, you can request a tech visit to replace a DVR (at least you could when I last needed a new one) but you may pay a fee for such a visit.  I was having some issues with my old DVR but after a call to TS, there was also a possibility of problems requiring a tech visit.  I was advised of a possible charge, but it turned out that my tech was a very nice guy who solved my problem, upgraded me to a VIP2250 (without my having to ask) and did not charge me for the visit.

All the Scheduled Recordings will automatically be repopulated by ATT's servers where they are stored as well as on your DVR. 😉
